Horia Andreescu is now the main conductor of the “George Enescu” Philharmonic. Founder of Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra in Bucharest, Professor Phd of the National University of Music Bucharest, Horia Andreescu was artistic director and conductor for many years of Radio music bands.
His studies at the University of Music in Bucharest (composition and conducting with exceptional teachers), at the Academy of Music in Vienna (with Hans Swarowski and Karl Osterreicher) as well as courses with Sergiu Celibidache, are a solid basis of his conducting experience. In recent years he dealt with the artistic shaping of the Simfonietta Romanian Orchestra, a project initiated by Marin Cazacu cellist and teacher as an artistic laboratory training future members of the Romanian Youth Orchestra.
Out of Horia Andreescu’s collaboration with orchestras from Romania and abroad – especially in Germany where he was “permanent guest conductor” at Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, 10 years holding the same position at Dresdner Philharmonie and 21 years at Staatskapelle Schwerin – there are over 60 recordings, out of which 16 with European orchestras.
